OnePlus claims its new battery technology retains 80% of its capacity even after four years of use.
On Thursday, OnePlus announced that the Ace 3 Pro, set to launch early next week in China, will be the first smartphone to feature the new glacier battery technology. This innovative 6,100 mAh battery is claimed to be thinner than the typical 5,000 mAh batteries found in most modern smartphones.
The glacier battery, powering the Ace 3 Pro with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, is expected to debut as the OnePlus 13R in India. It incorporates a new battery chemistry with a silicon-carbon negative electrode, co-developed with Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL), one of the world’s largest battery manufacturers.
OnePlus states that the Ace 3 Pro’s new 6,100 mAh battery supports up to 100W fast charging. Thanks to its advanced chemistry, the battery retains up to 80% of its original capacity even after four years of continuous use and is only 5.51mm thick.
According to OnePlus, this battery can be fully charged in 36 minutes with 100W charging and has an energy density of 763Wh/L. It contains 6% silicon content and is constructed with high-strength, ultra-thin copper foil.
Featuring a bionic honeycomb structural design, the battery ensures safety with low voltage drop and stable power. These advancements have allowed OnePlus to reduce the battery volume by 3% while increasing the capacity by 23.1% (1,100 mAh). With just five minutes of charging, the OnePlus Ace 3 Pro can provide two hours of continuous gaming or 3.5 hours of video streaming on platforms like TikTok.
