HMD Tomcat will look like a Lumia and run on Android OS.
The Nokia Lumia 920 gained recognition for its distinctive Fabula design. Now, HMD Global, the current licensee of the Nokia brand, appears poised to bring back this iconic look with a new Android smartphone, according to a leak by @smashx_60 on X.
HMD’s forthcoming smartphone, reportedly named Tomcat, may feature the classic Fabula design, characterized by intricate shapes and clean lines. This mid-tier device is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset, offering up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.
The Tomcat is also rumored to sport an AMOLED “PureDisplay” screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support. It will likely be available in various colors, including pink, green, blue, yellow, and more.
The HMD Tomcat is rumored to feature a triple camera setup on the back, consisting of a 108 MP primary camera, a low-resolution ultra-wide angle lens, and a depth sensor. Additionally, the smartphone is expected to have a 32 MP front-facing camera for selfies. Given the chip’s capabilities, the device is anticipated to support video recording in up to 4K resolution.
According to the leak, the phone will have an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance and feature a stereo speaker setup with OZO Playback. It may also come with a 3.5mm headphone jack. The device will run on Android 14 OS and will be equipped with a 4,900 mAh battery supporting 33W fast charging. Slated for a July release, the HMD Tomcat could appeal to long-time fans of the Lumia smartphone series. With its range of features, the phone is expected to be priced around Rs 30,000.
