The Sony PlayStation 5 Slim is set to hit Indian shelves on April 5th. Here’s all you need to know about Sony’s newest gaming console.
Sony has revealed that the PlayStation 5 Slim, its latest gaming console, will hit the Indian market starting April 5. This newly introduced console boasts the same hardware as the PlayStation 5 but offers expanded storage capacity.
Offered in both disc and disc-less variations, the PlayStation 5 Slim requires approximately 30% less space and is 25% lighter than the standard version. It features 1TB of internal storage, with the option for expansion using external SSDs. Initially unveiled in October last year, the PlayStation 5 Slim was initially exclusive to the United States.
Sporting an identical design to the standard PlayStation 5, the PlayStation 5 Slim permits users to transform the disc-less variant into one with a disc drive by swapping out the side panel. However, Sony has not disclosed information regarding the availability of this add-on.
While the aesthetic differences between the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Slim are minimal, the latter distinguishes itself with four side plates, as opposed to the standard model’s two. One of these additional plates accommodates the detachable Blu-ray disc drive. In terms of connectivity, the original model features one USB-C and one USB-A port, while the Slim version boasts two USB-C ports on the front.
The PlayStation 5 Slim with a disc drive is priced at Rs 54,990, whereas the disc-less PlayStation 5 Digital Edition is available for Rs 44,990 through both offline and online retailers.
