Google traditionally reveals two flagship smartphones each October, but this year, it might change tactics by launching three models: the Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9. Recently, a well-known leaker shared new renders of the Pixel 9, following earlier leaks of the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL. These new images depict the Pixel 9 with a dual rear camera setup and a more compact screen size.
Earlier in January, CAD-based images of the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro surfaced. Now, leaker Steve H.McFly, collaborating with 91Mobiles, asserts that the previously released renders were indeed of the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL. Subsequently, 91Mobiles has released what are purported to be CAD images of the standard Pixel 9.
The latest leaks present the Pixel 9 as a device with a sleek, compact design, featuring a prominent rear camera bump. The phone is characterized by its rounded edges, a flat screen, and flat sides. Reports suggest it will boast a 6.03-inch display. In contrast, the Pixel 9 Pro is rumored to have a 6.1-inch display, while the Pixel 9 Pro XL might sport a 6.5-inch screen. The displays are noted for their central hole-punch cutouts for the front camera. The Pixel 9 is expected to have a dual camera setup on the back, whereas the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL are anticipated to include a triple camera array.
Furthermore, the dimensions of the Pixel 9 are expected to be approximately 152.8 x 71.9 x 8.5 mm, expanding to 12 mm to accommodate the rear camera protrusion.
Last October, Google introduced the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro at its ‘Made by Google’ event, setting a precedent for its release cycle. Consequently, there’s anticipation that the Pixel 9 lineup will be unveiled around the same time this year. The new devices are rumored to operate on Android 15 and incorporate Google’s proprietary Tensor G4 SoC.
