The upcoming iPhone 16 series might introduce a revamped rear camera configuration, as per details disclosed by an insider. An alleged image of the iPhone 16’s camera module implies a departure from the conventional layout, showcasing a vertical camera arrangement—the first of its kind since the iPhone 12. Unverified leaks further speculate that the iPhone 16 lineup could consist of five models, with the “Plus SE” model positioned to replace the current 6.7-inch Plus variant.

Majin Bu, an individual on X (formerly Twitter), recently shared an image purportedly depicting the camera module of the iPhone 16 on the microblogging platform. This image aligns with earlier reports suggesting the adoption of a vertical camera layout. MacRumors conducted independent verification of the I-34 camera project component, affirming its authenticity through reliable industry sources.

Images recently leaked by user X showcase what seem to be renders of the upcoming iPhone 16 series. In contrast to the iPhone 15 lineup, the leaked images suggest that the company might unveil five models this year, including the iPhone 16 SE, iPhone 16 Plus SE, iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max.

The iPhone SE models are depicted with a solitary rear camera, whereas the standard iPhone 16 model is portrayed with a vertical dual-camera setup. The top-tier offerings, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, showcase a triple rear camera arrangement aligned vertically. However, it’s essential to approach this assertion cautiously, as user X explicitly mentions lacking information about the image’s source.

The iPhone 16 series is expected to bring not only changes to the camera layout but also new features like the Action Button (introduced in the iPhone 15 Pro models) and a dedicated Capture button for quick camera access across all models.

It’s important to note that the launch of the iPhone 16 is still several months away. We’re unsure if Apple will replace the iPhone 15 Plus with a larger iPhone 16 Plus SE model featuring a single camera, and whether it will be priced lower than last year’s 6.7-inch iPhone 15 Plus. More details about Apple’s 2024 iPhone models will likely emerge in the coming months.
