The 2024 Bespoke 4-Door Flex Refrigerator featuring AI Family Hub+ will make its debut at CES next year.

Samsung is set to revolutionize your kitchen in the New Year with an innovative smart fridge. Imagine an internal camera identifying your groceries and an app suggesting recipes based on your stock. The 2024 Bespoke 4-Door Flex Refrigerator with AI Family Hub+ is making its debut at CES, featuring a 32-inch touchscreen that lets you mirror your Galaxy phone and comes with dedicated apps for TikTok and YouTube videos. Your kitchen is about to get a tech upgrade like never before!

While the internal camera and Family Hub app aren’t entirely new (the 2023 model also featured an AI-powered camera and recipe generation), both have received significant upgrades. The Samsung Food app, accessible directly on the fridge through the Family Hub, now integrates with your Samsung Health profile to customize recipes according to your dietary requirements. It introduces an enhanced “Image to Recipe” feature, powered by improved Vision AI, capable of recognizing meals and food items from images and generating corresponding recipes. Additionally, there’s a Personalize feature that tailors recipes to specific dietary preferences like gluten-free, pescatarian, dairy-free, vegan, fusion, and more.

While the fridge comes with some limitations (Samsung mentions that its Vision AI feature can identify up to 33 food items), it may not recognize extremely exotic items. Users have the option to manually input expiration dates on the Family Hub touchscreen, receiving timely notifications just before individual items are set to expire.

Samsung has been introducing smart fridges since 2016, this latest model seems to be the first one prioritizing its AI capabilities over its Internet of Things integrations. Reflecting on the initial smart fridge from 2016, it’s evident that both smart home and AI technologies have made significant strides. It was highlighted that the Family Hub apps were slow to load, and the touchscreen had its limitations. However, even back then, the fridge featured cameras that allowed users to see the contents without opening the door.

In its marketing for the 2024 model, Samsung appears to position the fridge as the focal point connecting to other AI kitchen products, such as its AI oven, within the broader Samsung ecosystem. Additionally, slated for release next year is the 2024 model of Samsung’s cooktop, named the Anyplace Induction Cooktop. This cooktop features a slide-in range designed to fit seamlessly between kitchen cabinets. Both the cooktop and slide-in range are outfitted with seven-inch LCD screens, allowing users to view recipes from the Samsung Food app while they cook.
